City of Faribault (Rice County) Bridges 66546 and 66547
Bridges 66546 and 66547 are located on 2nd Avenue NW approximately 400 ft apart, and cross over the north channel and south channel of the Cannon River, respectively. Bridge 66546 consists of an 89 ft long, 2-span, continuous concrete slab bridge, with a 64 ft wide roadway and a sidewalk on each side. Bridge 66547 consists of a 162 ft long, 3-span, continuous concrete slab bridge, with a 52 ft wide roadway and a sidewalk on each side. Bridge design for both structures included ornamental railing, light standards, and architectural surface treatment on the abutments, piers, and edge of deck slab. Precast concrete slope paving (Armorflex block) was used instead of riprap to protect the abutment inslopes from scour. Bridge 66547 also included design of a 152 ft long cast-in-place concrete retaining wall extending from one corner of the bridge, parallel to the roadway. The wall was necessary to avoid filling into the river.
